HIstory
Based in Port Adelaide, South Australia, in the historic Waterside Workers' Hall, the company produces new and original works created by women, which advance the development of Australian Theatre. Vitalstatistix holds a unique place in the history of Australian Theatre in that it is the only theatre company in Australia that has constantly produced, promoted and supported new work by women, while providing professional opportunities for women and men theatre artists nationally.
Since its inception it has been a vital and persuasive advocate for women and women’s issues, presenting and producing theatre that is popular, dynamic and artistically innovative with wide audience appeal.
Vitalstatistix actively engages in the cultural life of the community in and around Port Adelaide, supporting events and activities in schools, and offering our venue and our resources to local groups.
Over the past eighteen years Vitalstatistix has won many awards for excellence in the arts, community service and advocacy of women. The company is also proud of its many achievements in fostering training, mentoring and the development of artists and projects that celebrate our many different cultures and communities.
