Vitalstatistix recognises the importance of arts activities in sustaining the well-being of our communities. In South Australia, the Port Adelaide Enfield region has the highest proportion of African migrants and
humanitarian refugees. Needs of this community include literacy and the preservation of culture and language. In response to this, Vitals created the GO-GO community arts project, commencing the research phase in 2008.

In 2009, Vitalstatistix will continue to work with local communities and popular African-Australian performers such as Ajak Kwai, Afro Moses and MC Simplex. GO-GO will focus on building the skills of
young African people through a series of workshops and mentorships. GO-GO explores the rich oral, musical, and performance cultures of Africa, fused with urban traditions of contemporary Australia. Like the syncopated drum beat from which this project takes its name, GO-GO is upbeat, dynamic and designed for dance!
