how to make a family pie

How To Make a Family Pie :: Gabrielle Griffin

You will need: One fresh Adelaide puppeteer Gabrielle Griffin. ADD : One Melbourne-based puppeteer Vanessa Ellis. BLEND IN: One theatre maker, Margie Fischer and one drama/movement consultant/puppeteer, Stephen Noonan. SPRINKLE WITH: Set/props/costume flavouring by Tsubi Du. BAKE FOR: Three weeks in Incubator Program. SERVE: Fresh, hot and spicy to invited adults only. This is an experimental recipe, with an emphasis on creative play, devising and exploring use of images and object manipulation as the text. The subject matter is full of flavour: female reproductive desires, same-sex parenting and concepts of ‘family’. Intimate, everyday stories will be sourced from the markets of lives around us, and under head chef Gabrielle Griffin, the Family Pie cooks hope to prove that a bun in the oven won’t spoil the broth....

Ruby Bruise :: The Misery Children

Ruby Bruise could see through walls. By the time she was 16, she had seen her parents have sex over a thousand times. Born with an adult head already on her shoulders, Ruby develops at 10,000 times the normal pace and attains the wisdom of old age on the afternoon of that very same day. Director Daisy Brown [The Misery Children] and Writer Finegan Kruckemeyer have assembled outstanding Adelaide artists Astrid Pill, Sarah Brokensha, Mario Spate and designer Gaelle Mellis. Together they immerse themselves in an honest human experience, rich in imagery and language to discover a lush landscape of madness, laughter, thoughts, feelings and body fluids, known as Ruby Bruise....
